WHO WE ARE:

ATCO Sustainable Communities (ASCI) is part of the ATCO Group of Companies and is a design-build contractor supplying pre-manufactured permanent building solutions to a variety of clients across western Canada. Launched in 2012, our focus at ASCI has been on providing a full range of pre-fabricated building solutions for Indigenous and other remote communities, including the design and construction of offices, schools, day care centers, hockey arenas and gas stations.  We are proud of the trusting relationships and partnerships we have been able to form with First Nations through the execution of many successful projects across western Canada, NWT and northern Ontario. 

Responsibilities:
  • Repair and maintain doors, floors, windows, partitions, ceilings, and exteriors of buildings; builds and installs door and window framing
  • Build wooden structures such as partitions, building, office additions, does sheeting and rough carpentry on the buildings as well as final finishes
  • Perform hand and bench work, operate planers, joiners, drill presses, power saws, sanders, and other woodworking machinery
  • Repair and maintain hand tools, saws, and other carpentry tools; installs locks, door knobs, and other building hardware
  • Read and interpret blue prints
  • Follow all safety procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 
  • Experience with small to medium size commercial construction sites
  • Ability to work safely with a wide variety of hand and power tools as well as materials
  • Current certificate in First Aid
  • Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications and work from sketches
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade
  • Ability to plan, lay out, and perform carpentry work
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the carpentry trade
  • Knowledge of cabinet-making techniques
  • Skills in the construction, repair, restoration, and installation of wood or related materials
  • Ability to estimate time and materials needed for assigned work projects
  • Must be able to lift and carry 55 lbs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills 
  • High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skill set
